August Favourites 2014

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week. I just started class this week, so it's been a little stressful/overwhelming getting back into the swing of things...but it's the good kind of stress.

With the whole moving process I limited myself to one makeup bag that I would take with me and then I was going to ship the rest. So this is going to be a combination of "what's in my travel makeup bag/August favourites"...let's get into the products...

 For the face...

Lately, I've been after a very natural base. I don't want to look like I'm wearing foundation and I definitely don't want to be able to feel it on my skin. So what I've been doing lately is...

1. Concealing under the eyes with my beloved NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade custard. Best under eye concealer as far as I'm concerned but not to keen using it other places to be honest.

2. Conceal any redness or spots with Makeup Forever's Full Cover Concealer in the shade #7. This doesn't hold up amazingly well on oily skin, but I set it with powder and a spray which helps loads.

3. I'm  still using Tarte's Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation but I'm using it differently. I ditched the small kabuki brush for now and opted for the Real Technique's Blush Brush (pink fluffy brush pictured above) to lightly buff that over the skin to set the concealer and even everything out.

Also, a quick mention...the Sonia Kashuk Pointed Blending Brush I've had for 6+ years and it's still going strong. It's such a great blending/crease brush and for $3.99 it's talk about bang for your buck. Highly, highly recommend.

Urban Decay De-slick Makeup Setting Spray keeps makeup in place and oil at bay. Great for summer/warmer months. Mine is the travel size.

Beauty Blender Sponge...what can I say that hasn't been said? I love this pink spongey egg...blends concealer and liquid foundation in like nothing else. So easy to use and I'll never be without it.

I've rekindled my love for NARS' Laguna Bronzer...I go through phases where I'll skip bronzer all together and then there are times where I bronze my skin within an inch of it's life. Maybe I'll find that happy medium, but for right now I'm all for looking like some sort failed attempt at a Grecian bronzed goddess (I can try right? *slaps on more bronzer*).

Jouer Powder Blush. People...I.cannot.put.these.blushes.down. ALL THREE!?!#$%!? I know, I know, I've talked about them before but they are just so damn easy. Heavy handed girls, a.ka. me, don't have to worry about over applying because the pigmentation is very buildable. Try any of them I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara. I know it's probably time to throw this puppy out but I don't want to part with it. Volume, length, does it all and it's easy to layer.

IT Cosmetics YBBB Your Brows But Better brow pencil. This was a slow love folks and I've since used it up. I'm trying something new now and I can say I'm really missing this. It's a firm retractable pencil which makes it really easy to use because, again I'm heavy handed, it doesn't layer on too much product at one time.

For the eyes...

Still obsessing over the Marc Jacobs The Lolita Palette, especially the medium matte brown shade. The middle shade is a bit chunky but the rest are beautiful. I picked up two of the NARS Dual-Intesity Eyeshadows a couple months ago and have been grabbing the one in himalia non-stop. I know what you're probably thinking, " looks ridiculously similar to some of the shades in The Lolita palette...". Problems...many problems I have.

And last but certainly not least, the Sephora Cream Lip Stains. Yes, everyone and their pet turtle rave about these...I am aware of this but for good reason. Blow your mind type of good. Eat, drink, kissing...stays put and doesn't budge AND they are comfortable. Sephora really knocked it out of the ball park with these babies now all they need is an orangey-red and everything in the lipstick world would be perfect.

That wraps it all up...I know it was a bit of a ramble but hey, what can you do. As always, thanks for taking time to stop by and I hope you have a lovely holiday weekend. Any fun plans? As for me, I think a pool party is in the works for tomorrow...but the mere thought of a bathing suite *cringe*

See you soon =]
