First Date Survival Guide

I had a date the other night...first date, first time meeting him; the whole shebang. I've been out of the dating world for what seems like ages, so of course I was running around like a chicken without a head freaking out.

So as I dip my toes into the vast ocean that is dating, I decided to take you along with me...and I'll share some tips along the way.

Makeup...

1. Stick to what you know. I wouldn't recommend slapping on a whole slew of new products the night of and then realise half way through the date that your face is melting off and you look like a hot mess...you get my drift. Just stick with things that you know perform well and that you've tested.

2. Less is more. Now this one is a bit of a personal preference sort of thing. I always think less makeup is better...I never want my makeup to be the first thing someone notices. Just enough to look polished with my best face forward.

3. Avoid bright lips. Especially if you have the "no kissing on the first date rule". Honestly, worrying about weather you have red lipstick smeared across your face/teeth is probably the last thing you want to think about on a first date. If you're like me, you're nervous enough as is. Keep it fuss free with an easy lipstick or gloss.

What to wear...

1. Keep.it.simple. I don't know about you but for me deciding what to wear has always been the hardest part where getting ready is concerned. "Effortlessly chic" is something I always strive for and I've found that sticking with the basics is always the route to go. Now you don't have to wear all black like I did (it just really dumbs things down for me haha), but if you do jazz it up with some accessories.

2. Send a picture to someone. I always send outfit pictures to my sister and/or a friend. It's always nice to get a second opinion...in my opinion haha.

3. Wear your favourite fragrance. Wear something you know you love and makes you feel confident. Nothing is worse than trying a new fragrance, dashing out the door and then realising 30 minutes in that it doesn't mesh well with your body chemistry.

And lastly, the BIGGEST rule of all...have fun and be yourself! I know it sounds cliché but it's true, because at the end of the day what do you have to lose? As always, thanks for having a read and I hope this was helpful. Cheers to taking the next step forward...and good luck xx

    1. Thank you Laura! I know, a bit unimaginative but you really can't go wrong with black haha. It went well! I can't remember the last time I was that nervous but I survived. Oooh the joys of being single!
