Shu Uemura Chat

I don't know about you, but Shu Uemura is one of those makeup brands that I rarely hear that much buzz about. Sure their eyelash curler and cleansing oils are somewhat of a cult classic (to say the least) but I never hear much about the actual makeup products themselves...and I don't understand why.

They offer 5 different finishes matte (M), pearl (P), iridescent (IR), metallic (ME) and glitters (G). I've tried the matte, pearl and metallic finishes and they are all absolutely fantastic. Creamy, smooth, buttery...and every other positive adjective you would want to apply to an eyeshadow. I particularly love the top 4 shadows (starting with the pinkish to the medium brown)...such good basic everyday shadows.

I tried to get the best natural lighting so you could see the colours most accurately and I feel this photo is pretty spot on.

Okay, from left to right...

M896- one of those basic matte dark browns everyone needs in their collection.

ME856- the website describes this as a "medium metallic silver brown"'s a taupe brown and I get the least use out of this one, purely because I can't wear taupe that well but it's incredible nonetheless.

ME862- this is a medium metallic bronze and this is the only one that turned out more orange in the photo than it actually is (which it isn't at all in real life).... It really is a perfect bronze shade.

ME885- it's a medium metallic reddish brown that would look absolutely gorgeous particularly on green and blue eyes.

S853- this is doesn't show up in the regular section of their eyeshadows but if you type it in the search section you'll be able to find it. This is described as medium brown...but I think it's a bit lighter and great as one of those crease/transitional colours.

P861- a pearl earth brown.  I like to use this when I want a one shadow look. All over the lid, blended into the crease and bottom lash line with black eyeliner smudged and a crap ton of mascara and you've got one of those effortless grunge looks goin' on.

P823- soft pearl beige. I think this is a beige/champagne/light brown...and I love it. It's one of those shades that you swipe across the lid and really brightens up the eye area.

ME825- a metallic gold sand. Ah another one I absolutely love...this is the shadow that fuelled the Shu obsession. 8 hours of sleep in an eyeshadow.

P812- pearl neutral beige. This shade is great for the inner corners to brighten everything up.

So, what do you guys think? Have you tried anything from Shu Uemura lately?

  1. Wow the pigmentation of these shades is amazing, I had no idea Shu Uemura did make up, I thought they only did eyelash curlers :)

    1. I know! Their eyeshadows are one of my favourite formulations...hands down. Every shadow I have from them is a dream to work with.
