The Travel Makeup Bag

I'm going to Boston for the weekend to surprise my brother and his girlfriend, so I decided to dedicate this post to what's coming along with me. Yes, you read that correctly...weekend trip. I've never been one to pack light and I always want to be prepared for any type of makeup situation and then realistically I end up using 1/4 of what I brought...when will I learn? *sigh*

Correct answer: never.

For the base I'm bringing...

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Faced Base & Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer: Bringing two primers may seem a bit ridiculous but I'm testing out the Bobbi Brown and just in case it doesn't work out I need to bring old reliable.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick: this is the foundation I've been using lately and I'm still getting the hang of it, but so far I love how easy it is to apply and it looks just like skin (as the name would imply).

Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer: let's be real here this thing never leaves my bag. Great for spots and also if you just want to cover up redness and set it with a powder...you're good to go. No foundation needed.

MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural: I just repurchased this and I don't know if they've changed the colours but I remember medium plus being more of a yellowish light powder instead of a pinky beige colour. Not sure if I'm digging this yet.

Tarte Holiday Blush/Bronzer Palette: I got this a couple years back and since I'm afraid to committing to just one blush for an entire weekend this works out perfectly.

Marc Jacobs Light Filtering Contour Powder: Another recent purchase that I want to test out (I'm also using that yellow side as an under eye setting powder).

Christian Dior Amber Diamond Shimmer Powder: If this looks like it's never been used...that's because it's never really been used. I think I've used this maybe once or twice and was very underwhelmed. But I'm determined and I'm forcing the love over this long weekend...I can't be the only one.

Onto the eyes...

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil & Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel: I am absolutely loving this combination for my brows. Quick and easy and makes my brows look very polished.

Benefits Erase Paste & Clinique Airbrush Concealer: I've talked about my love for the Erase Paste and I'm still loving it...so it's comin' with me. Now for Clinique...talk about a concealer that keeps on giving. I've had this for ages and have been using it consistently and it's still not done. I like it and would recommend, I just want to use it up already.

NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base & Maybelline Colour Tattoo: After trying countless of primers I think I've finally found the one that works for my extremely oily eyelids. Seriously, nothing is creasing with the NARS primer. I'm bringing the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze because it's a good on a lazy eyeshadow day.

LORAC Pro Eyeshadow Palette: A lovely neutral palette with a row of mattes on the top and shimmers on the bottom. This is another thing that I need to force the love upon...there's nothing wrong with it, I just never grab for it and I'm hoping that will change.

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eyeliner Crayon, Tarte Skinny Smolder Eyes & Rimmel Scandaleyes: A black, bronzer and nude eyeliner...pretty basic.

Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara & Estee Lauder Little Black Primer: This will be my third tube of the Armani mascara and I absolutely love it. As for the Estee Lauder mascara primer, this stuff is pretty damn fantastic. It helps your mascara hold the curl and takes any mascara to the next level....I'm talking *BAM* heeeelllooo lashes. Love it.

And Lastly lips...

MAC Prep + Prime for lips & Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner: This combination is an overall great pair to prep the lips and it goes really well with the two lipsticks I'm bringing.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy & Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy in Desirable: Both lipsticks are new to my collection. I love Boy but I'm on the fence with Desirable. I'm bringing it along so my mom can try it out and if she likes it I'll give it to her.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw & Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon: I always need a red lip option and I prefer the long lasting budge proof type. Both of these are travel size and I've never tried either,  so I thought this would be a good opportunity to give them a go.

Oh man...I'm telling you, you never realise how much you bring until you actually sit down and write it all up. Although it may look like I'm bringing everything but the kitchen sink, it all fits comfortably into my makeup bag...there's no squishing or cramming going on. That has to count for something right?

Anyway, I know this was a long post and if you've made it this far thanks for stopping buy and reading =]

*Also, whatever I bold is always linked to where you can find/purchase whatever I'm talking about...I'm not affiliated, it's just to make online shopping a little easier for you*

  2. I love that BAG!!! But I know the pain-- I used to travel with four times that much, and now I take one basic face with an extra shadow and lipcolor, and that's it. I just add more of something (liner, shadow) to change it up.

    1. Thank you! I bought it in a museum a couple years back when I was living in London. Ah that is the goal one day to have my travel makeup bag that streamlined!
