Maybelline Concealer Roundup

(Age Rewind, Fit Me, Dream Lumi)

Hello! Long time no blogpost...my mom and sister came into town last week and I took them all over D.C., sightseeing, shopping, restaurants (we did some serious eating)...you name it we did it! It was so nice to have them and although I'm sad they're gone, I'm ready to get back to the good ol' blog.

I've accumulated several Maybelline concealers and thought that I would have a little chat about them today. Plus, who doesn't love a good drugstore post?

Okay, so first up is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Concealer (say that five times fast!). This is by far my favourite out of the bunch and I've gone through several of these. In fact this is one of my favourite under eye concealers in general (besides my beloved NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer). I have the shade light which is just slightly too light for me, so I bought the shade medium which matches my skin almost perfectly and I mix the two together. The texture is extremely light, easily blend able and I don't find I have an issue with creasing (which I always tend to have). My favourite way to apply this is with a Beauty Blender and it just melts into the skin and covers any dark circles. I highly recommend.

Next is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and I have the shade 20 Sand. This concealer has been compared to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer left, right and centre...and I don't understand why. I don't think they are anything alike to be honest. I find this extremely watery, it's difficult to blend and goes patchy almost instantly on me. Also, it really makes my under eyes look crepey. So, if you couldn't tell...I'm not a fan of this at all. I'm probably going to get shunned from the beauty community for that! It just goes to show you that just because something works for others doesn't mean it will always work of you.

The newest of the bunch is the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Radiant 310 (these names...I swear). As you can see from the photo above this one is much more pink than the other two. The Radiant shade is meant to be more of a brightener rather than a concealer and so because of that I use it underneath the Instant Age Rewind. I've only been using this for a week and I've found that you have to be carful with it because when blended out it almost goes to a pinkish white colour (at least on my skin tone), so if applied too heavily you could run the risk of reverse panda eyes...and no one wants that. However, I'm liking it and will definitely use it up and recommend.

I don't know why but under eye concealer and brighteners are some of my favourite things to test out. Have you tried any of these...if so, what did you think? What are your favourite concealers? Recommendations are always welcome!

Also, Ulta.com is having a buy one get one 50% off Maybelline products if you wanted to give anything from their line a go!

*Another little tip that I find helpful where creasing concealer is concerned...after applying your concealer, I always let it sit while I finish the rest of my face and if it settles in any lines or creases I take my fingers or Beauty Blender and press it back into the skin/blend it out and then I set it with powder. I never apply concealer and then powder immediately after because then you can't blend out the creases! *

  2. Ohh concealers is such a satisfying topic for me as well :D I love the Age Rewind but haven't tried the other two you mention.

Have you tried Cinique AirBrush Concealer? It is my absolute favorite for under eye area. Now as Im leaving my 20s behind in a few months a lot of the concealers have started gathering into fine lines around my eyes but that one is soo brightening and light in consistency. I think I am on my 3rd in a row.

    1. Yes! I just ran out of my Clinique concealer and I'm telling myself "I don't need it"...but I'm finding I miss it more and more. I completely agree, it's so light but really brightening.

Happy early birthday! You don't look a day over 25 =]

      xx
