Review: MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation

(don't mind the desert dry hands)

Do you guys ever find that you walk into a cosmetics store, whether it be MAC, Sephora, what have you, with one thing in mind and then you end up getting suckered into buying something completely different and what you really don't want. No? Well, that happens to me all the time and it's getting to me.

This purchase is a classic example of just that. I went into MAC for the Pro Longwear Concealer and the MUA talked me into the Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation instead *smacks forehead*.

MAC and the MUA claim that you can use this as either a full coverage foundation or as a concealer. I bought this with the intention of using it as an under eye concealer, which is why I bought it in the shade NW25 (pink tones cancelling out the darkness under my eye).

Let's cut to the chase...I really dislike this for that purpose. Strong, strong, STRONG feelings of dislike here.

The main reason I bought it instead of the Pro Longwear Concealer is the fact that the MUA said that the foundation isn't as drying as the concealer, which I find completely false. For me this is extremely drying under the eyes and made me look about 10 years older. I'm talking to the point where every time I would use this I would feel a little self conscience about how I looked. Ridiculous, I know...unless you're a makeup enthusiast how many average people pay attention to your under eyes really? But you get what I mean.

Also, NW25 is way too dark to use under my eyes. When the product comes out initially it looks like it could possibly be light enough to work, but when it dries down a bit (and it dries/sets quickly) it turns a few shades darker, so I'm left with dark rings around my eyes...not exactly the look I'm going for to be honest.

Now, I haven't tried this as a foundation, so I can't comment on how it performs, but as an under eye concealer it's a no go for me.

Besides the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (which is my favourite), do you guys have any recommendations for a good under eye concealer?

  1. The new corrector from Urban Decay is a great one under the eyes , it' s creamy and light under the skin . I did a review on it.

  2. Yup the UD Naked concealer is great but I find that it provides less coverage than the Nars one. They're both nice I guess it just depends if you have bad dark circles or not. If you have dark circles I would recommend just buying a corrector that you'll use before the concealer or a full coverage concealer something like the It Cosmetics bye bye under eye.
