Review: Make Up For Ever Volume 1 Artist Palette (Nudes You Need)

I know what you're thinking another neutral palette...I'm 99.9% sure you're not going to be seeing a bright coloured eyeshadow palette on this blog anytime soon, what can I say...I know what I like and I like me some neutrals. All day every day.

Make Up For Ever reformulated their eyeshadows a few months back and I know they've been receiving high marks. One of the reasons why I haven't gotten around to trying any of their new shadows is the fact that Make Up For Ever's line can be a bit overwhelming. There are SO many shades and finishes to choose from to the point where I just give up trying to remember which shades I liked and I end up moving on. That's why the Make Up For Ever Volume 1 Artist Palette (Nudes You Need) caught my attention.

(L-R) I-528 Pearl, I-514 Pink Ivory, ME-512 Golden Beige, S-556 Taupe Grey, D-562 Taupe Platinum, Me-644 Iced Brown, S-102 Onyx, I-544 Pink Granite, D-652 Celestial Earth

The eyeshadows are about the size of a quarter and the palette is surpassingly hefty feeling. There are a variety of shades from light to dark and warm to cool with several different finishes (iridescent, metallic, satin, and diamond). I can't tell too much of a difference between the iridescent, metallic, and diamond finishes...maybe if I had to say something, the diamond finishes would be the most metallic in my opinion. When the satin finishes are applied to the eye they come off more as a buttery matte finish, which could be a good thing if you were concerned over the fact that there weren't any mattes included in this palette. Each shade is incredibly pigmented, creamy, and smooth...basically the Artist Shadow formula is one of the best shadows your money could buy. I had absolutely no problem with creasing, fading, or blending and that was without a primer people...on my oily lids!?

Bottom line I would recommend this in a heart beat. Especially if you find MUFE Artist Shadow line a little daunting like I do. I'm definitely keen to buy more once I sit down and have the patience to go through their nearly 200 eyeshadow shade selection. If you're tired of the neutral scene they also offer a bright Artist Shadow palette! I thought this palette (the neutral one) was limited addition, but it doesn't look like it is judging from the website just an fyi.

What do you guys think? Do you have any recommendations on which shades I should check out? I have no idea where to begin >.<
