It Cosmetics Face Product Overview

I know, another blogging hiatus. I think it's safe to say I won't be winning any blogger of the year awards where my consistency is concerned ha! I don't know what's been up with my face lately but we haven't been getting along, which has added to the lack of inspiration toward slapping makeup on my face.

Anyway, I was having a look around my mom's makeup bag a couple weeks ago (which I always love doing) and I came across IT Cosmetic's Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+. A little disclaimer, I had handed this off to her because it didn't work out for me back when I tried it, but of course me being me I had to give it another go just to see if my luck had changed.

And then I got really impulsive and decided to buy the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination SPF 50 , CC+ Bronzer SPF 50+, and the Celebration Foundation Illumination Powder (Seriously IT, calm down with the product names)...which brings us to an overview of their face products.

Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+

First off, I love the packaging and wish all foundation type products were housed like this. I'm in the shade medium, which pre tan was slightly too dark for my NC27ish skin tone, however now it's too light. I find that all of IT's face products run rather pink, or at least on my skin tone it oxidises into something with a pink undertone even though initially it looks rather yellow.

Coverage wise it's more like a foundation and it covers really well. However, I find that it stays tacky on the skin, regardless whether I apply setting powder or not, and for me personally it's one of my biggest pet peeves because then it feels like I'm wearing makeup.

I want the best of both worlds. I want to slap on all the makeup but feel like I'm not wearing anything...high maintenance much?

Despite being able to feel it on the skin, it has great lasting power but it does settle into lines.

For my combination/oily skin this is too moisturising to wear with my everyday moisturiser but not moisturising enough to forgo one all together.

All in all, it's good and easy and I can see how everyone loves this but I can't handle the tacky feeling and now it's back in my mom's makeup bag.

Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination Cream SPF 50+

Now for the illuminating version...ah, this is an example of when impulsivity turns around and bits you in the bum.

Everything about this product is the same as the original except for the fact that it has fine shimmer/glitter particles running through it (think Revlon Photo Ready).

It's so strange because you can't see the shimmer when swatched on your arm, for example I couldn't see it in the store, but it's so apparent when applied on the face.

For me personally, I'm so particular about glitter and 9 times out of 10 I don't like it in any of my products and this was one of those times. It looks gorgeous from afar but up close...glitter everywhere.

Your Skin But Better CC+ Bronzer SPF 50+

This is such a gorgeous product but again has so much shimmer...whyyyy!??!

To be fair this looks much more flattering than the illumination CC+ Cream because it's a bronze cream.

I mixed this with my Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and it looked lovely, especially from a distance and then you get all close and personal and you see all the glitter bits. Honestly, you don't need to get that close to see sister was sitting next to me at dinner and she commented on the glitter everywhere.

It has the same consistency as the previous too, great coverage and lasting power but just with a bronze. Colour wise it's more of a red/pink bronze when blended out on the skin.

I can see people who don't mind shimmer really liking this because it really does look gorgeous on, but at the end of the day I don't want to keep something that I would only feel comfortable wearing in dark lighting...because let's be honest, my wild going out days are dwindling to maybe once a month and all the other nights are filled with dinner dates and Netflix, which end quite early (a.k.a. before it get's dark).

(L-R) Original, Illumination, Bronzer
Here are some comparative swatches of all three. The medium shade in the Illumination CC+ Cream is ever so slightly lighter than the original formula.

Celebration Foundation Illumination Powder

This is in the shade light because that's what suited me best at the time and again once applied and settled into the skin it has a pink undertone.

Aaah, where to begin with this product. This looks gorgeous over the original CC+ cream and it looks gorgeous dusted over some concealer.

I can't even tell you how lovely it makes your skin look and it give the most beautiful luminous glow I have ever seen...

But....HUGE but...

After this settles for maybe an hour onto the skin it does the most bizarre thing. It looks as if your face is cracking/separating/caking all while being luminously just looks weird, in the worst way possible.

I don't understand it and it's just so disapointing because of how good it looks in the beginning. Whether I applied a little or a lot it did the same thing.

Well, that wraps up this GIANT overview. Basically, I already returned the three I bought. I love IT Cosmetics and I think they make great quality products (their eyeshadows and brow products for starters) but their CC+ creams and powders just didn't work for's all about personal preference.

I hope you've all been well and are enjoying your weekend! I picked up a few new things and I'm  really excited to chat about them soon.

  1. I'm really glad I found this review! I've been debating trying those products for awhile but I think I'll hold off.
