Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector

I'm late to the party with this one.

Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector

Claims:
  • Oil free
  • Instantly and completely blurs imperfections
  • Evens out skin tone and looks natural
  • SPF 20
  • Over time skin looks more radiant/firmer and pore size is reduced
First off, I love the packaging. It's one of those airless pump/tube that I wish all foundations came in.

I wear the shade medium/light and it works perfectly for my skin tone (NC27ish).

I'm apologising now because I'm middle of the road as far as my feelings go for this product. I don't love it but I don't hate it, very useful I know.

I find that it does blur pores but it does nothing for dry spots and actually clings to them quite noticeably, so their whole claim of "one and done" I don't agree with. I have combination oily skin and I find that I can't skip out on my moisturiser which leads me to believe dryer skin types won't get on with this all that well.

It evens out redness nicely but it won't cover up imperfections, I still have to go in with concealer.

The lasting power is decent but I powder and wear a primer because I find that even though it's a demi-matte finish theres a point where it looks nice, still looks nice, looks questionable, and then WHAM oil, oil, and more oil. Another thing that keeps me from really enjoying this product is the fact that it creases pretty badly on me (around the chin, nose, and smile lines), which is something I can't stand in a product.

Overall, I like it enough to not return it, which says something...but not enough to where I think I'd repurchase, which also says something haha (useless, I know). It's nice but it's not something I'd reach for over other favourites if I know I have to look my best for something. I actually feel as if it makes me look a little dull.

I thought I'd throw in some quick thoughts and swatches of the Gwen Stefani blush palette because if it's still available and you're an NC/NW25 and below I'd recommend picking it up.

Honestly, with the exception the Naked Palettes Urban Decay rarely interests me and that remains true with the Gwen Stefani collection. I had no interest in the eyeshadow palette and the blush palette slightly perked my interest purely because blush is my thing. But when I was able to get this for $6 (with sales/gift cards), I thought why the hell not...worse case I give it to a friend if it doesn't work out.

Well, I'm actually really surprised that I enjoy this as much as I do. This isn't your traditional blush palette where you're able to use each blush on its own, it's more of a mixing palette to customise colours that work for you.

It's bit odd because all the shades swatch a lot deeper than they actually apply on the skin. The only shade that I can use alone as a blush is Easy but everything else needs to be layered and mixed to show up on.

Lo-fi makes for a nice bronzer and Angel is a soft highlight.

Cherry is nice applied on the apples of the cheeks over the top of Easy.

Hush is beautiful on top of the Cherry/Easy combination I previously mention, but it's also really nice mixed with OC (which is a shade that I thought I would absolutely hate because I really don't like duo chrome anything).

And here is a slightly awkward selfie with everything on my face. No editing, no filters. As you can see I feel as if my face looks alright but something's missing, it's just overall kind of dull to me.

If you can still find the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani blush palette and you're fairer than me I would highly recommend. It would look lovely on you. I'm at my absolute lightest right now and I think if I was any darker it's not going to show up. Definitely not a summer palette for me.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday and happy Mother's Day to all my mommies out there...including my own :) !!
